In the world, many environmental issues distract our lives. Therefore, there is a need for these problems to be solved. In this situation, people can decrease damages from environmental pollution by choosing a variety of options. I think that governmental regulations are the optimal way to accomplish better outcomes.
To begin with, dealing with environmental problems takes a great amount of money. This is because this kind of problem can have a big influence on huge areas. Hence, it is really difficult for individuals and private organizations to take money economically. South Korea’s example is suitable for this. A few years ago, a lot of petroleums were spilled on the ocean of South. The damage was so enormous that almost all sea animals around spots of the accident ended up being dead. According to the government, it would take ten million dollars to handle this problem. To a person and some organizations, the cost was unimaginable. In the end, the government decided to fund on this disaster. In 2 years, the disaster was weakened. Furthermore, congress made a law that it regulates the amount of oil, and strengthens inspection of ships. If a personal effort and private organizations had taken on this job, they would never have restored the oceans.
On top of that, environmental pollution requires a lot of time to be recovered. Continuation is the main factor to handle this problem because nature needs enough time to return to original states. As a result, the government has to participate. For instance, China’s example is proper for this. From last year, in China, the government has to try to get out of desertification. They say that to decrease the severity of desertification, it demands about eighty years. Eighty years is a long time to individuals, meaning that they cannot manage the problem continually. Only the government has the ability to do this. Now, the government is planning trees on deserts, and make a regulation not to construct more factories. It is not easy to expect the persistence to individuals.
Of course, a person’s efforts and organizations’ activities are dispensable. However, they have a limitation on finance and time. They cannot deal with these problems by themselves. Consequently, governmental regulations are the best way to minimize time and to burden costs.
