▶ Your Answer : | Cars have certainly made everlasting impacts on human society. However, compared to airplanes, I believe their impression dwindles. As such, I disagree with the statement that cars have made a greater impact on society than airplanes for the following three reasons; intercontinental connection, expansion of the human mind and being weapons from above. |
To begin with, airplanes have done something a car could never do - connecting continents. Before airplanes, intercontinental communications were done in a slow and dangerous way. However, once airplanes were commercialized, all kinds of people, from presidents to newborn babies, had easier access to different continents. As a result of this, the stage for international politics, global Market, education, culture and so much more has expanded infinitely. I do not believe cars could have made this possible, thus my disagreeing with the statement.
In addition, airplanes have made a greater impact on society than cars by expanding human minds. Evolution of ground transportation has happened for millenniums, and with the Industrial Revolution, cars were bound to happen. However, flying has only been a dream until the 19th century. The conquest of this deed which seemed impossible gave humans confidence, and with similar technology, paved the path to the space era.
Finally, weaponized airplanes completely changed how the war worked. Distances and natural barriers became meaningless. Were it not for cargo planes and bombers, the USA would have remained a regional power, not a global superpower it is today. Additionally and ironically, these fearsome vessels have created the most peaceful era. WMDs loaded onto stealth bombers ensued mutual destruction, forcing nations into peace agreements and preventing another global scale War, despite the taught times such as the cold era.
To conclude, while cars are an important part of our society, I believe airplanes have made greater impacts on it for the following three reasons: connecting continents, unchaining human's notion of the world and being a weapon from the Sky. Therefore, I disagree with the statement of cars having a bigger impact on society than airplanes.
