Some people think that automobiles have not influenced people's lives as airplanes have done. However, in my opinion, cars have made a more significant impact on society than planes. This is because vehicles are more readily accessible, and a greater number of people work in fields related to cars.
To begin with, more people can take advantage of automobiles in mundane existence. Most people living in modern society make use of vehicles on a daily basis, whereas they usually utilize airplanes when moving long distances is required. It is obvious that what can be exploited everyday such as cars affect the life of people more deeply than inventions which people can hardly use. For example, a poll was conducted by the Department of Sociology in Seoul National University with 1000 citizens as respondents. The main purpose of the survey was to determine the frequency of people to use cars and airplanes. As a result, the majority of the respondents asserted that they usually moved around by their own personal vehicles, buses, or taxies rather than planes. To put it concretely, an overwhelming 98 percent had replied that they utilized cars rather than airplanes in their daily life. This was mainly due to a large amount of money people should pay for using planes, which interferes with taking advantage of them routinely. The result of the survey plainly demonstrates that cars have been utilized more frequently than airplanes.
On top of that, there are more people who have their careers in arenas relevant to cars rather than airplanes. Since there exist a greater number of employees in automobile industry, there are more improvements, advertisements, and productive feedback on cars. Since people access profound knowledge and information about cars by them, cars are able to affect people's lives in much greater depth. For instance, I watched diverse advertisements about vehicles on television almost everyday. Thus, I could know a variety of state-of-the-art technologies included in cars and a diversity of options people can relish while driving their ones. Since I majored in materials science and electrical engineering, these continuously had me think over innovative development in my field which can be applied to cars. However, I rarely got information about planes, because there was no route for me to learn detailed knowledge about them. Therefore, this made me have less chance to ponder planes, although a lot of technologies related to my major can be used for them.
To sum up, cars can be used by people more frequently, and more people have their job in fields related to vehicles. It is evident that these points make cars have a more significant impact on our society. In this regard, I firmly believe that lives of people were more affected by cars rather than planes.
