Some people think that rigorous rules can be helpful for children to enjoy successful and gratifying life. However, in my opinion, they are nothing but an obstacle to reaching one's success. This is because the absence of strict guidance can help kids find what is of significance in their life, and learn how to plan their future.
To begin with, children are able to look for what are valuable during living. Without strict rules established by parents, children can experience a diversity of events in the world, learn a tremendous array of lessons, and form their own ways of thinking. Therefore, based on these, they can determine important parts in their life more easily, and comprehend what they have to do in an attempt to attain success. For instance, when I was a child, my parents permitted me to play everywhere near my home without overseeing me. Hence, I could fully relish my childhood without due time to go home. This was an invaluable period for me, because I was able to realize that friends in the vicinity of me are only ones understanding my opinion. This led me to regard my companies as the most essential portion in my life. According to this way of thinking, I became to hold that sharing a sufficient amount of time with my confederates are mandatory to make a successful life, so I put my best foot forward to be friendly to them. My story shows that those with the lack of strict parental direction are more likely to achieve success in their life.
On top of that, children can learn methods to organize their life with ease. It is obvious that children should be able to plan their works or tasks in order to succeed in life. If they are captured by parental guidance which restricts their freedom, they can be hampered to know such skills because they grow accustomed to only following their parents' direction. Thus, such rules can bring about lower chance to obtain success. For example, a study was conducted by the Department of Education in Seoul National University to determine whether giving concrete rules related to mundane existence by parents could affect their children's possibility to gain successful academic results. There were two groups monitored over a three-year period. The first group was formed of elementary school students whose parents set time to arrive at home everyday. The other group consisted of children with similar age who can go back home freely without the interruption of their parents. The researchers tracked the scores of tests which all of them took, and what they found was intriguing. The grades of the children in the latter group highly surpassed those of the students in the former one. This was mainly due to the shortage of the capability to organize studying plans on their own. The result of the research plainly demonstrates that parents who require strict rules can mislead the future of their children.
To sum up, kids are capable of searching for their important portions of life more easily, and apprehending how to plan their next days without strict rules. It is evident that these points make children to succeed in their future life. In this regard, I firmly believe that parents should not suggest too detailed direction toward the life of their children.
