▶ Your Answer : It is commonly mentioned that providing
students with grades promotes learning, and many people are apt to tolerate such
a comment to some extent. As I see it, providing students with grades doesn’t
promote learning. This is on account of the fact that students only study to beat
their classmates and they only study textbook.
To begin with, students study hard to beat
their friends. Some students want to be the first place. They compete each
other too much, and get a lot of stress. Also they think each other not friends,
competitors. Let me give you an example related to my experience. My school provides
students with grades in every subjects. I became the top of chemistry. Some of
my classmates want to beat me and were always interested in what I am studying
and which book I used. It was really stressful for me.
On top of that, students only study the portion
of textbook that related to exams. They have to learn knowledge and things to
live in the outside of school. But, grading makes students study only knowledge
to get higher grades. For instance, when my friend studied English, she always
memorizes the whole passage for the test. She even didn’t know the meanings of
the words. She only studied for the test and forgot them. It is very meaningless
for her.
To sum up, providing students with grades gives
a lot of stress to students and is useless for students lives. Taking all these
things into account, I have arrived at the rational conclusion that providing
students with grades is bad for students. We should keep in mind the originality
of studying and learning, |
