There might be some people who believe that people should do other things to improve the environment. However, I think there are two convenient and easy ways to protect the environment. The first one is to use paper bags, and the second one is taking public transportation.
To begin with, getting paper bags is one of the easiest ways to reduce garbage. In general, papers are more easy to decompose than plastic materials. Moreover, people know exactly papers can be recycled. On the contrary, people just throw away plastic bags even though they are able to be reused. Therefore, exploiting paper bags can be helpful to decrease undecomposable trash. Let me bring up my story as an example. A few years ago, in my country, South Korea, people usually used plastic bags instead of paper bags, but they did not know plastic bags could be recycled like paper bags. Two years after, plastic bags were prohibited at stores. Accordingly, the utilization of plastic bags was down dramatically, and the total amount of recycling increased. Without the policy, my country would have accumulated much more wastes.
On top of that, taking public transportation can minimize the adverse effect of CO2. It is a general fact that the rise of CO2 would make the earth get much hotter than before. As a result, glaciers will melt, and the level and the temperature of the sea will skyrocket. This will eventually destruct the ocean ecosystem. For example, if people use their cars instead of public transportation, they would make much more smoke, and which increases the level of CO2 in the atmosphere. To prevent this dangerous situation, my country imposed a policy that regulated the number of cars by limiting the possible day to use cars. Thanks to this policy, cars diminished, the total amount of CO2 has dropped, and the ocean of my country is stable now.
In conclusion, taking paper bags can be a way to decline garbage. Furthermore, if people can use public transportation much more than before, they can protect the ocean ecosystem. In this regard, I firmly think that the two ways are needed to preserve our natural resources. |
