▶ Your Answer :
Some people believe that one's successful can be measured by the amount of money one has. However, in my opinion, things other than money should be taken in considereation when it comes to one's succeess these days. This is because many people who volunteer for society at the expanse of money and there are some people who earn much money while committing corruption.
To begin with, some people are voluteering for others even they do not earn much or even no money at all. But it is them whom have good reputation and are considered as successful in their lives as they have some places in their mind to help and consider people who are in need. For example, in Korea, a priest Lee has been considered as a successful person for he had sacred his life to help people who were endangered. He went to the third-world country to treat people who had disease. He did not earn any money, rather spent his private money to cure people, and also got sick due to he put efforts day and night to care people in there. However no one says he fails in his life. Instead, many people whether they are the people cured by Lee or not feel thankful and grateful for what he had done. He lighted the society and showed that money is not everything in our lives.
On top of that, people who earn much money are often criticized for their behavior. Trusting in their money and believing that money can solve everything, they act as if tommorrow is not exist. They misbehave which is contrast to our common sense. And moeny can be a factor that makes them do some unwholesome acts. For instance, in Korea, it is quite common to find people who have a large amount of money but ignore other people all the time. And it is called 'Gapjil' in Korean. A few years ago, an airplane had to return to the airport where they had departed because of their owner who was in the airplane. She was so upset with very little thing and made crews to kneeled down to her. Could not control her frustration, she directed to return to the airport. And this issue shook the nation. Public criticized her act and her company's reputation was damaged harshly and irreversibly.
In a nut shell, taking the one who got applause even he did not earn money and devoted most of his lives helping others and the one who has earned a large amount of money but acts immorally trusting her money and therefore considered as a bad person in to consideration, success can not be measured just by money. In this regard, I think how much one contributes to the society should be considered when we define success. |
