Reading fictional stories and novels is better than reading books about real events or people.
Some people might believe that fictional stories are worth more than reading books since they relieve stress. However, I disagree with the following statement that reading fictional stories and novels is better than reading books about real events or people for the following reasons: knowledge and stress.
To begin with, books about real stories fortify one's knowledge in certain fields. When people read about real events, they can easily know the facts about previous era as well as unforgettable wisdom or sermon that can change one's life. To be specific, if people read books about the Great Depression or Jackson Pollock, they can extrapolate critical knowledge of America and art history as well as improving their reading skills. Since reading non-fictional books (단/복수) simultaneously increases one's reading skills and knowledge, it is worth more than the fictional books.
Furthermore, fictional books are entirely the imagination of their author that can be stressful for readers to understand yet the non-fictional books are less stressful due to decreased confusion generated by its facts. It is true that there is a controversial issue about history because historians often deal with discrepancies among them. However, these non-fictional books are analytical and easy to understand. For instance, my brother easily read the book of the Hiding Place, the time where Nazis strictly controlled the people's foodstuffs by allowing only ration cards to pursue foods which drew the abject life in mid-20th century. Since this story easily explained the modern history of Germany, it was easy to read. Based on the characteristics of two distinct genres of book, it is inevitable that reading books about real events or people is better than reading fictional stories and novels.
In conclusion, knowledge and stress are the reasons why I agree with the statements as mentioned above. Keep on reading fictional books to kill two birds with one stone.
