People these days live in a society which serves money as one of the key value to live well. Therefore, a lot of people to earn money. However, the usage of money differ from people to people. Some use their earnings right away, while others save them for the future. People who save might think that it is always better to save what they earn rather than to spend it right away. Nonetheless, I do not agree with the idea because those who always keep for the future would not get to know how to consume money, and they would not feel the happiness of spending.
To begin with, I would like to discuss about the consuming of the money. Since we buy things-including our basic needs such as shelter and food- out of money, one has to know when and how to consume money wisely, and thin know-how can only be obtained through spending money. I will take an example of my elder sister. My sister had to look for the house after graduating her university. She looked around the houses and apartments near her workplace. Two weeks passed by ,but she never could decide the house because she never had the opportunity of spending such as big money. After all, she could not make a choice, and she had to travel a long distance from home to her workplace, leading a lack of sleep. By looking at the story of my sister, one can know the importance of knowing the proper usage of money, which can only be acquired through experience.
On top of that, saving money may lead one to depression. People mostly feel happy when they eat foods they like, watch movies, do their hobbies, or go shopping. Now, take a look at the things I wrote down. There is one common requirement in doing these activities, and it, of course, is money. I know that this issue is quite controversial. Saving money will help you when you need a big investment in the future, or in terms of settling an accident that might occur. However, I believe that the happiness of the moment outweighs these benefits. For instance, a survey was held by Stanford University in 2013. The participants were asked to answer the moment when they feel happy. 34 percent of the students answered that they feel happy when doing their favorite hobby. 8 percent answered that they really feel pleasant when shopping. However, only 0.95 percent answered that they feel happy when they save their earnings. Therefore, we can conclude that happiness usually requires money.
To sum up, I think that it isn't always a better choice for one to save money he earns. I strongly believe that spending money will help people get the wisdom of consuming, and the happiness they could feel right at the moment when spending. |
