▶ Your Answer : Some people think that people who do not accept criticism can be successful at their work place since believing their own opinion firmly makes them succeed. However, in my opinion, it is better to accept other people's criticism for success. FIrstly, listening to various opinions which sometimes seem to be aggressive can get people gain various knowledge of unknown fields. It is required for people to have a wide variety of knowledge rather than deep knowledge of one specific field. A person with a great amount of knowledge is regarded as a person of intelligence in this world. On the other hand, those who have no interest and knowledge in various fields might simply be ignored. And accepting criticism is a good opportunity for broaden your horizon. For example, when I was a freshman, I and my friends prepared for the presentation for sociology class. We searched urban development in Korea and how we should show this presentation effectively for other students. During the discussion of our own, one friend told us that our knowledge about development of Daejeon seemed wrong. He was in sociology major, and he criticized our understanding of that subject. We got angry about his suggestion, however we accepted his criticism and we could finish our presentation successfully. Second, only those who are open-minded to other's criticism can keep wide variety of human network. It is who you know, not what you do, that makes you succeed. The meaning of success has completely changed compared to the past. If it was merely focusing on one's own way and excelling others, now it is different. Along with your own ability, it is crucial to have people who can lend you a hand when you are in trouble. And people who do not like other people's criticism loose their close people. In this sense, capacity for allowing criticism can be helpful. For example, I will talk about my uncle and my father to elucidate my point. in the case of my uncle, he disliked other people's advice and criticism. Unlike my uncle, my father have always paid attention to other's opinions, even from those he hated. When there were important times to decide whether they can achieve important tasks in their business, business partners betrayed my uncle and he was bankrupt eventually. However, my father r always have those who lend him a hand and support his business. Consequently, my father's business became prosperous. To sum up, people who do not accept criticism cannot be successful since they cannot get a variety of knowledge and cannot have friends who can help them when they are in trouble. In this regard, I firmly believe that only people who accept criticism can be successful. |
