▶ Your Answer : Today's society is difficult for people to decide and implement alone. Thus, when you decide something such as major, you need someone's help. There are different opinions regarding getting advice from older adults or peers. Personally, I strongly agree with the statement that people should receive advice from elders for the following reasons; help of older people and risk of peers.
To begin with, getting advice from older adults makes people live better. Adults have lived longer than young people, so they can give wise advice based on their life experiences. Thus, their advice and counsel are likely to lead people to make a better decision. For example, When I was the leader of the group project, I was displeased at the team members who didn't participate actively in the group project. So I was going to give up my group project, but my parents gave me advice to persuade and encourage my team members to finish group project. I took this advice, and I was able to finish group project successfully. If I had not listened to my parents’ advice, I would never have been able to solve this problem.
On the top of that, gaining advice from peers risks being untrue. People are living in a society where praises only the best. This environment makes peers unreliable, and only to be able to trust the advice of teachers, parents who help us. For example, when I was studying for the college entrance exam in high school, I had a friend who was always a cold attitude with me whenever I asked for help and advice. One day, surprisingly, he gave me advice about the schedule of exam. However, the advice and tip he said was false. Eventually, I got a setback in my exam, and I could only trust my teachers and parents who were there to help me. Moreover, it would be difficult to ask for advice from my peers.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that it is of benefit for people to get advice from older people than peers. I believe that my argument regarding this topic has been precisely and effectively delivered with the reasons I mentioned above.
