▶ Your Answer :
Some people might think that it is more important for teachers to study hard in their major rather than make rapport with students. However, in my opinion, active communication with students is the most valuable ability for teachers. This is because it is teachers’ job to convey knowledge to students, and students learn more effectively when there is a (관사) close relationship with teachers. To begin with, the most important role for a teacher is to teach students. Even though they have deep knowledge in certain subjects, it is hard to say they are a good teacher if they have horrible ability to communicate with students. For example, I enrolled in a math class which was instructed by a professor who published several books of mathematics. My friends and I were looking forward to participating in the class because we thought the professor would have fascinating skills of teaching. Since we used the textbook which the professor was the author of, we expected that the course would be easy to follow up. However, the professor bungled a lot while she explains the notions and the applications. Moreover, she never answered students’ questions during the class. As a result, many students in the class dropped the lecture. On top of that, students are able to learn more during classes if they feel connected with teachers. A lecture is the communication between a teacher and students. If students feel comfortable with (자연스러운 전치사) their teachers, it is easier for them to communicate more actively with their teachers. For instance, when I was in high school, my homeroom teacher had much interest toward students. She often had small talks with students and consulted many students who had trouble in their school life. This made students to trust her, which generated several optimistic effects in the class. Students did not just listen to the lecture, but also made questions actively when they did not understand the details. The communication between the teacher and students made the atmosphere much comfortable during the lecture. To sum up, teachers’ job is to inform students effectively during a lecture, and deep connection between teachers and students leads to active communication, which makes lectures better. Teachers should build rapport with students; if not, they will be called scholars instead of teachers. In this regard, I strongly believe that the most important ability for teachers is to communicate with students. |
