▶ Your Answer :Undoubtedly,
grades play a crucial role in students’ lives in the many of the
places where they work or play. Some people think that grades encourage
students to work harder at school, while others do not. If I were asked to
choose one, I would say that grades make students play their parts better at
school. There are several reasons as follows. To begin
with, when students are evaluated by grades, they will try their best. Giving
grades to students drives students to get better scores, because students, as a
human, wants to outdo others. To bring a better result in academic performance,
they are likely to focus better on class, to stay more alert at school and even
to communicate with classmates. For example, when my youngest brother was in
high school, which had not tested before, he used to be lazy and selfish. He
did poorly in high school. He often submitted his assignments late, sometimes
was late for school, and easily distracted in class. He spent his spare time on
playing video games with his friends and watching movies although he had to do
his homework by reviewing class materials. However, he has changed after his
school started to have exams. He prompted with time, and participated actively
in his class, asking what he didn’t understand. He gathered his
classmates and formed a group to have discussions which helped them to review
lectures. If he would not have been given grades by exams, he would never have
studied enthusiastically
In brief, I
strongly believe that grades are effective ways for students to play their
parts better. Being assessed cannot be overestimated in students’ life.
