▶ Your Answer : Unquestionably, past, present, and future play a significant role in people's daily lives in many of the places where they work or play. A large number of people think that comprehending the past is not important to be able to tackle obstacles facing us now and in the future, while others do not. If I were asked to choose one, I would say that understanding the past is significant to prepare for upcoming impediments. There are several reasons as follows. Above all, when people understand past events such as catastrophes, they can prevent climate change. When people start to comprehend the past, they can aware of their bad behaviors on the natural environment and thus enables them to commute by bus or subway instead of their individual cars. Less usage of individual cars is likely to reduce the emission of harmful gases that make weather change as well as natural disasters. For example, in the early 2000s, in the United States, Texas suffered from unpredicted massive flooding, leading to huge property damage and thousands of deaths. It was a very rare phenomenon for a state known for its dry weather. Many scientists and climate experts are linking this event to an increase of CO2 that mainly caused by driving cars. This opinion is based on the fact that the number of cars has been increasing tremendously. It is not exaggerating to say that the car is the main cause of global climate change. After this event, the government acknowledged the need for more careful measures and many individuals began to think about their responsibility on environmental issues. If the government implement more sustainable policies and individuals actively participate in them, this joint effort can reduce the gas emission, improve the current eco-system, and naturally prevent climate change on a global level. In brief, I strongly believe that the positive impact of comprehending the past cannot be overestimated in life because of the reasons I have mentioned above. All in all, this trend will continue and pass down to the next generation.
