▶ Your Answer : Every university considers the most efficient way to improve themselves and, in turn, invest in some fields to do so. In this regard, there is a controversy that which is the best area to spend money to develop the universities’ status, and some of them choose to fund in hiring more teachers. However, I totally object to this decision. In my opinion, the option of improving their facilities is far more helpful for them. Let me explain why I think so for the subsequent two reasons.
First and foremost, great facilities encourage great learning efficiency. Students are inclined to study well in an environment with good quality. A classroom with fancy chairs, clean desks, high-developed screen monitors, and an expensive air purifier make better mood to study, and thus will lead students to focus fully on their learning. Some other facilities such as a library, of course, also contribute to their learning situation. For example, the university I am attending now had a radical change at last semester. It modifies the majority of its classrooms to even more improved ones. Before the change, walls in those classrooms were really dirty and several apparatuses including desks did not work well. At that time, my friends and I could not concentrate fully on every course due to the inferior quality of classrooms. However, after the alteration, we always felt satisfied with the improved state of buildings and could do well on our studying as a result of this. Judging from this experience, I am convinced that forming good quality of school facilities definitely brings about better environment for learning. On top of that, increasing the number of teachers would not bring any beneficial effect for an university. Doing that means paying more university funds for the salaries of hired professors. This will burden the college with a plenty of payment. In addition, high number of teachers does not benefit for students. My university hired three new professors last semester with the expectation that this will induce students to learn better from them. However, all three professors did not teach well on their lectures, so that the bulk of students did not sign for their classes. In other words, contrary to the college’s prediction, hiring more teachers did not have any influence on the school at all. Considering this story, there is no doubt that lengthening the number of teachers do not have positive effect on schools at all. In conclusion, the advantages of advancing universities’ infrastructures far outweigh those of recruiting more teachers. Accordingly, universities should fund in the sector of facilities if they want to obtain some beneficial effects. |
