▶ Your Answer : It is debatable whether the extended family
is less important now than it was in the past. This is an intriguing question
because opinions regarding this topic can be different relying on the
individual perspectives. In my opinion, however, I support that it the extended
family is more important now for the following reasons.
First of all, the extended family especially grandparents play more significant role in taking care of their grandchild because parents today are busy. In other words, in modern society there are
lots of working parents busy with their full of tasks, obligations and
responsibility. On the contrary, In the past, parents were able to pay much
more attention to their kids. Lots of kid in modern society are spending their
time with their grandparents while their parents are working in the company.
Grandparents are much more contributing to educating young kids relative to the
past. For instance, my uncle has a young kid. Since he is so busy especially on
weekday, he does not have enough time to take care of his kids. So grandparents
play with his kids during his working time. However, my father said that when he
was a kid, he spent most of his time with his family not his grandparents.
Second, spending more time with the
extended family is beneficial for young kids because it helps kids learn about building relationships with others. To be specific, in modern society, many kids do not have siblings
or may be the only child. They might have difficulties with interacting with others.
And they used to spend their time alone. In this way, it is really important to
spend time with their cousins and grandparents. Spending time with the extended
family creates a strong family bond and allows kids learn how to build relationships through communicating their thoughts and connecting to each other's feeling. Building relationships is a great way to develop the increasingly important social, interpersonal, and communication skills. To illustrate, I am the only child and I don't have
siblings. I spent many times with my cousins whose age is similar with me after
school. Through this experience, I realized that the extended family is really
important to people especially who do not have siblings in modern society
because it leads to building relationship.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that the
extended family today is more important. All things considered, my arguments
regarding this topic has been precisely and effectively delivered with the reasons
mentioned above. Never should we forget that this issue may have a huge impact
on our future. |
