Spending time with many friends VS Having just a few close friends.
: Spending time with many friends.
Some people think that having just a few close friends will be very helpful in their lives. However, in my opinion, spending time with many friends is better than having just a few close friends. There are two reasons. First, having many friends enables people to expand their social network. Second, It is opportunity for people to various experiences in their lives.
On top of that, spending quality time with many friends allows people to expand their human relationship. The world we live in now, is a human-network-oriented society. The meaning of success has completely changed compared to the past in this world. If it was merely focusing on one’s own way and excelling others, now it is different. Along with your own ability, it is crucial to have people who can lend you a hand when you are in trouble. For example, When I was a university student, I had a hard time adapting to school. Due to my timid personality, I had difficulty hanging out with peers. However, sarah, my middle school friend, recommended me to talk to someone first and I accepted her advice. As a result, I could get along well with peers. Had it not been for her advice, I would not been able to adapt this situation. Likewise people will be able to change their life like turning point after making new friends. My experience proved that having many friends really useful when you are in trouble.
To be specific, spending time with many friends is a great way for people to different experiences in their lives. I believe experience is one of the most essential factors of the success in the world. Imagine people have only textbook knowledge. Their views will be so narrow. By meeting many friends through extracurricular activities they can not only gain diverse experience but also broaden their horizons of the world. For instance, a study was conducted by Korean Board of Education to determine whether diverse experience could affect their academic performance. There were two groups monitored. The first group was formed of people who engage in extracurricular activities more than three times a week. They were asked to take test to measure their level of academic performance. The other group consisted of people who take only school classes and were given the same direction. The researchers compared the outcomes and recorded that the former group had significantly higher their academic performance. The reason was that having many friends do more various activities, which relieve some stress and allows them to focus more on their studies.
To sum up, spending quality time with many friends really must be helpful for people’s social network. Moreover, by meeting new friends, sufficient doing diverse activities shape one to be the person the society requires. In this regard, I firmly believe that there is nothing better than spending time with many friends.
