Some people say that strict rules set by
parents are essential for children to succeed in life. However, in my opinion,
strict rule is not a necessary factor for children's success. The reasons for
this are that strict rules can limit creativity of children and there would be
other ways to learn what is right and wrong without strict rules. To begin with, children's creativity and
ability to imagine or dream can be limited by strict rules. Creativity is
really important to become a successful person because an innovative idea that
is able to result in great success usually comes from creative thinking. Rule
setting often prevent children from doing something uncommon, but how can we
certain that something is uncommon? According to one of my teachers, she said
that there was one child whose parents were too strict and the other child
whose parents let him free as far as he do not commit the bad thing. The former
one had a difficulty when he had to do the work that needs creativity and
autonomy in school, while the latter one loved to do the assignment such as
writing own story or drawing whatever you want. In the future, the latter boy
became a successful CEO. In addition, many people say that strict
rules will teach children what is a right behavior and what is not. However,
strict rules are not the only way to teach them. Children can learn to distinguish
them by other ways and I even think that a real experience is the best way to
realize the right and the wrong. For instance, if a girl want to draw on the
wall and her parents say that it is a wrong behavior, she would not stop trying
that behavior. But if she watches the dirty wall after her drawing and parents'
hard working to make the wall clean again, she would realize that it is not a
good thing to do.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that
strict rules are not essential for children to get success in their life. This
is because strict rules can be obstacles to creativity and children are able to
learn what is wrong and right by other ways. I hope many children have an
opportunity to do what they want and become successful. |
