▶ Your Answer : Books play a significant role in people's daily lives in many of the places where they work or study. Some people think that parents should force their children to read non-fiction books because fiction books are not good for children, while others do not think this way. Both sides may have their own reason to support their views. If I were asked to choose one, I would say that parents should encourage their children to read non-fiction and fiction books together. There are several reasons to support their views.
To begin with, since fiction books are easy to read than non-fiction books, children can read a lot of fiction books compared to non-fiction books. This reading can give them more chances to think about their future career broadly. For example, when I was in elementary school, I usually read the fiction books such as science cartoons whenever I got a break time. This is because it was easy to read and had funny scenarios. This consistent reading enabled me to get a lot of information on the various types of the jobs such as scientists and programmers. Thanks to the finding of my interest at that time, I am a programmer who is struggling to make a better world.
On top of that, since children can easily have access to fiction books than non-fiction books as I mentioned above, children are likely to get more knowledge through fiction books than through non-fiction books. For instance, when I was in elementary school, my best friend was forced to study by his parents. Therefore, he had to study and read boring non-fiction books every day. At first, he got better grades than me because I did not have any interest in reading books. However, after I read the fiction books such as science cartoon magazines and mathematic books comprised of cartoons, I could get a strong habit to read the books consistently. Even though it did not have a big impact for several months, I could understand and get a lot of knowledge through the fiction books. At last, I could get a better grade than my best friend because my friend got tired to read books.
What's more, a strong reading habit allowed me to read even non-fiction books. All things considered, I strongly believe that the advantages of easy reading of fiction books far outweigh those of non-fiction books for the reasons I have mentioned above. All in all, the importance of a broad range of coverage of fiction books cannot be overestimated when children try to find their own interests and future jobs.
