Some people think that celebrities should not show their viewpoints
to the public. However, in my opinion, it is beneficial for people to know what
celebrities think about. This does not only draws an intension to social issues but also encourages the people to make their own opinion.
To begin with, expressing viewpoints on public positively impact the
people to aware of social problems. Celebrities can attract a lot of people’s
interest, so it is much easier to let the people know about the crisis. This is
especially true when it comes to major disasters, such as earthquakes, tornadoes,
and floods. For example, when Haiti suffered an enormous earthquake, lots
of celebrities gathered to tell the urgent situations. The celebrities gathered
to sing ‘We are the world’ and it spread out through the public, and lots of
people able to know about Haiti situation. Their efforts made people and
nations helped Haiti for recovering.
On top of that, it is capable to inspire people to express their
opinion. This is because, if someone who people admire speaks their own opinion
voluntarily in public, people can be encouraged to share their thoughts. For
example, the United States has been very cautious about talking about
race-related issues due to lots of social problems. People would not talk about
these issues in public, because they were so afraid to express these issues.
However, when Martin Luther King Jr. argued about racist issues, lots of people
got stimulated and started to talk about this topic. Not only the Martin Luther
King, but also lots of Hollywood actors supported and expressed their thoughts to the public and appealed to people to consider the racist problems.
Consequently, lots of people capable to express ideas about the racist issues
now.
To sum up, celebrities can
make society in good ways by expressing their opinions for solving the social
issues and provoking the people to express their own opinions. In this regard,
I think it is very helpful for people and society if famous people share their
opinions. |
