▶ Your Answer : Some people argue that lining up students is harmful to their mental health, Some of them even say that we should revoke grading systems, letting students free from their test results. However, as a student, I would not think so. Two main reasons are that giving motivation to students and also helping them to make a network among each other. First of all, a grade is a big motivation for students in that it can be a barometer about how much effort they made. If a grade is not shown, the students have no way to know that their study style is right or not. For example, when I was a high school student, I could be motivated to study harder by a goal set to make a progress in my exam scores and show them to my family. Especially, my mom was so happy to see my improved achievement through exam results. It was the engine for me to do more homework. Secondly, the students can make their study group by matching each member according to their test scores and it could be a great learning system. In a group of students with a similar level of the score, they can move toward the right answer by giving questions to each other. Another system is called mento and mentee, which is operated in my high school. Teachers match a student who got a high number of grades on the exam with another student who didn’t. This is beneficial to both of them because the one can re-learn what she already knows, and the other can get a grasp of what she didn’t know by private tutoring from her classroom mates. In conclusion, a grading system can give students motivation, with a good peer group which is a great method for their understanding. A grade plays a role in helping the students to make the best. |
