The question has been raised as to whether history and literature are less important school subjects than science and mathematics. Some people think that literature and history would not be as crucial as mathematics and science in class. However, I firmly believe that history and literature are much more noticeable than mathematics and science as school subjects. This is because learning history and literature can improve students’ creativity and encourage them to interact with each other.
To start with, students can increase their creativity and imaginativeness through history and literature subjects. To illustrate, the contents of history and literature can have the possibility of posing a lot of questions so students will have their own opinions about one event. Also,
as students can share their various thoughts, they may prevent themselves from baised aspects. For instance, when I was a middle school student, teachers had us talk about one novel’s ending. I thought only about simple and easy endings but after I listened to my friends’ opinions, I was able to imagine new aspects I had never presented.
On the top of that, history and literature classes can encourage students to interact with each other. In particular, students may often experience lots ohaf group activities and various discussions in history and literature classes. There are many people and they have different personalities. Thus, students have to deal with others and students’ communication and cooperation skills can be naturally improved.
To sum up, history and literature subjects can not only improve students’ creativity and imaginativeness, but also allow students to communicate and collaborate with others.
In this regard, I think that history and literature are even more influential school subjects than science and mathematics.
