The question has been raised as to whether it is disturbing for students to listen to music while studying. Some people often say that listening to music when studying is disruptive. But I don’t concur with that. In my opinion, music is helpful for students to study well. This is because music can relieve stress and tension and help students concentrate on their studies.
To begin with, music can allow students to relieve their stress and tension. In particular, when students have a burden related to their studies or get stressed about examinations, they can be more relaxed and control their mind if they listen to music. My personal experience can be a great example. I was very tense the day before the final exam since I messed up the mid-term and the final exam was very important to my grade. Then, I can’t focus on the study materials and I am likely to think nothing. So, I listened to my favorite pop song while studying. Surprisingly, after a while, my tension and concern calmed down and I felt relieved. Therefore, I finished the last summary before the exam efficiently and got a great grade. Without music, I would have not focused on my studies and been much worried about exams.
On top of that, there are many types of music which can help students concentrate more on their materials. To illustrate, white noise is popular in improving memory. These days, on Youtube, there is a lot of helpful music such as piano performance, tranquil Pop songs, and Ost of animation. According to research of Chungnam National University, it is beneficial to listen to calm music while studying. About 83 percent of participants in their experiment presented their improved concentration on their studies while listening to music.
To sum up, music can not only let students relax their stress and burden but also help them to focus on their materials. In this regard, I think that listening to music while studying would be beneficial.
