Statement: People lead healthier lives today.
I strongly agree with the statement that people lead healthier lives today.
Many medical advances have been made in large or small scale, which made something that people suffered from in the past no longer bother people living nowadays. For example, even only decades ago people didn’t understand why some were born with several hereditary diseases. After defining DNA and chromosomes, etc, we finally figured out what kinds of genetic diseases exist and how we can prevent them. Furthermore, wealth of medicines have been developed to help out patients.
Also, people can reach out to many different levels of information these days. Expertise does not belong to experts only. All of us can access to wide range of medical, pharmaceutical knowledge thanks to the development of the internet and mobile devices.
For these reasons I think that when it comes to health, people nowadays are privileged due to remarkable progress of medicine, pharmacy, and information technologies.
Dormitory에 살 것인가, off campus 에 살 것인가?
Having lived both in dormitories and off campus, I prefer living off campus for some very personal reasons.
In my case, my college offered a very confined room, too small for three grownups to live in. It was relatively affordable than to live off-campus alone, but it couldn’t overweigh the uncomfortableness of living in group.
We used to have a few emotional fights every other day and it was quite burdensome dealing with those.
My dormitory had some strict rules for students to follow, one of which was to come back no later than 11pm. I couldn’t feel free hanging out with my friends and also when I’m studying outside I needed to pack things up in a rush not to be late for the closing time. For these inconveniences, I’d never like to live in dormitories again in my life.
