▶ Your Answer :
It is debatable whether children should
have art and music as mandatory school subject along with math, history,
science, and language. This is an intriguing question because opinions
concerning this issue can be different depending on the individual
perspectives. In my opinion, however, I support that art and music are not
needed as required courses in school for the following reasons.
First of all, it is just waste of time for many
children because most children do not need to study art or music as mandatory
school subjects. To be specific, many students are not aim to art or music for
their careers. They just want to enjoy art and music as their rest. Therefore,
making them required courses is only for few students who want to be a painter
or musician. If these students want to study more this fields, there are so
many ways such as going to an art school, taking a private lesson, and
contacting an academy. It is good for them because this fields need to high
professional training. For example, when I was 10 years old, I have a friend
who wanted to be a singer. She had to take a professional lesson but our school’s
music teacher is not professional vocal teacher. On the other hand, most
students including me were just ordinary students and especially I have never
music talent. Thus, all students did not have to music class as required class.
In addition, learning art and music as
mandatory have negative impacts on children. In fact, children have to take additional
private education because almost parents want their children to prepare compulsory
education. Children do not like being force, which as result makes children lose
their interests in art and music. Today’s children are very stressful because
they are already busy with their life full of tasks and responsibilities. They
can relieve stress by hobbies such as painting, playing the guitar or listening
to music but it will be possible only if they recognize them comfortable. For
instance, according to a study done by the Korea Times, it revealed that
children who are have been educated art as mandatory subjects have less enjoyment
in these subjects than children who are not have been. Thus, it is legitimate
to say that adding art and music to required course are not good for children.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that
children should not have art and music as mandatory school subject. All things
considered, it is my belief that my argument regarding this topic has been
precisely and effectively delivered with the reasons mentioned above. Never
should we forget that this issue may have a huge impact on our future.
