▶ Your Answer :
Undoubtedly, comprehending the past play a
significant role in people’s lives in many of the place where people play or
work. Some people think that comprehending the past allow people to remove
obstacles facing now and in the future, while others do not. If I were asked to
choose one, I would say that understanding the past is the key to solve the
present and future problems. There are several reasons as follows.
To begin with, the past experiences are
able to prevent people from making analogous mistakes. If people understand the
past accurately, they can grasp points of the past problems and solutions. As a
result, they can make constant efforts in order to deter people making same
mistakes. For example, Texas suffered from unexpected massive flooding, leading
to property damage and thousands of deaths. This was a very rare phenomenon for
a state known for a dry weather. Many experts were linking this event to the
increase in CO2 mainly caused by driving cars. Their argument is based on the
fact the number of cars has been increasing tremendously. After this event, the
Texas government acknowledged their problem of ignoring environment and provided
affordable and convenient public transit system and pour their funds into renewable
energy sources to prevent flooding disasters. This was an effort to prevent
same disasters caused by using cars.
In addition, the understanding the past
allows people to expect the future event, so people can prepare. Historical
events tend to be repetitive. If people grasp the historical trend well, they
can expect the future with ease. For instance, when I was in college student, I
invested my part time wages on stock markets. Because I already knew that the
stock price was likely to increase in inflation economy, and the government’s recent
decision establishing sizable new cities for providing suitable job positions
would be responsible for inflation in the history. After all, I made a lot of
money in stock market and I could travel the Europe in vacation.
All things considered, I strongly believe
that the advantages of comprehending the past far outweigh the disadvantages of
those. All in all, comprehending the past experiences is important in the past
and in the future.
