following reasons.
First of all, the
reading's argument is that many companies can get a lot of profits through this
policy because employees who work a four-day might not make many errors.
However, the lecturer claims that it never brings more benefits for companies
because they should spend their money for a various of sectors such as training
and medical care for workers. This is because if employees work only for four
days, companies should need other workers and they have to provide new
computers and new office spaces. It may cost a lot.
On top of that,
although the reading passage claims that if workers go to office only four
days, it solve the unemployment problems, the speakers casts doubt on reading's
assertion. The speakers says that the companies might not hire new workers due
to high cost. Therefore, they start other options which requires original
employees to work over time. As a result, working a for-day is not only not to
bring additional jobs but also makes workers unhappy.
Finally, the author argues
that the options of a four-day workweek helps to increase a quality of life.
However, the professor in the lecture asserts that it even will decrease a
quality of life. Workers who work for four days cannot get benefits of
promotions because a lot of companies prefer five-day workers to four-day
workers. Finally, those who want to work a four-day cannot make their ability
