▶ Your Answer : With more and more rising importance for renewable energy, most people are optimistic about the wave-energy facilities otherwise known as wave farms. However, what optimists say about the wave farms are merely the illusion. Three main aspects about the wave farm will be discussed in this essay. First, the idea that wave farms are constant and predictable is debatable. For example, there are often technology problems and breakdowns which causes the fluctuations in the energy provided, or sometimes the whole facility could turn down. Second, the floating convertors may seem environmentally friendly since it only uses the movements of the waves to turn their turbines. However, these floating devices contain harmful chemicals that are toxic to the ocean ecosystem. Lastly, the idea that wave farms do not disturb natural beauty is also questionable since the vessels are painted with bright color for shipping purposes, therefore making them highly visible. To conclude, most of the advantages that were known previously turns out to be more of disadvantages than benefits. People should take more time into consideration before quickly turning into wave farms for the alternative energy source. |
