▶ Your Answer :
There might be some people who believe that individuals can affect on the environmental issues. However, in my opinion, those problems should be managed in a large scale for the two subsequent reasons. First, solving the environmental problems necessitates some complicated knowledge. Second, it need a lot of money.
First of all, the problems of the environment should be handled with some sophisticated skills and knowledge. Solving those problems is usually related with ecosystem, weather condition, complex machines, and even with ethnic problems. For general people, it is hard to satisfy all the criteria of those area. As a result, a government should deal with this problems by constituting a conference and hiring expertise on each fields. According to a survey conducted by the environmental institution, in Korea, most people have no idea for handling the environmental problems. The institution asked 2,500 people randomly about what they can do to solve some issues of the environment. 87.3 percent of the subjects said that they did not know what they can do. This is because, they usually were not environment majors so they rarely know well about the problem. Even they were know it, they should consider a lot of problems on related fields. This clearly shows that people cannot have a great impact on solving environmental problems.
On top of that, individuals can not afford the money. Dealing with the environmental issues costs a lot, at least one million dollars. These budgets only can be handled by a government or an large institution, not individual. For example, in 1990, Global warming has become a serious problem worldwide. So 50 nations gathered to made a decision how to deal with this problem in Sep 27, 1994. They set a regulation on the amount of using a certain kind of gas and fossil fuels and charged for fees on the abusing those matters. The cost of this was $1,750, but it was not an expensive price in the aspect of worldwide. After that, the accelerated warming problem has been stabilized. If they did not take the appropriate action in a global scale with abundant budget, the problem would have caused more severe problems. In conclusion, it is difficult for people to consider all the aspects of various field and manage a lot of money at once to solve issues of the environment. In this regard, I strongly believe that the governments should deal with those problems, not individuals. |
