▶ Your Answer :
There might be some people
who believe that university should spend more money on their library than on
sports. However, I personally disagree with the above idea for two subsequent
reasons. This is because sports are good for health and stimulate social
interaction among students.
To begin
with, sports activities play an important role in promoting student’s physical
health. Students can read a lot of healthy benefits by participating in sports
activities. This is important significantly because more and more people are
unhealthy due to their sedentary lifestyle. For example, my cousin liked computer
games very much, so he always had spent most of the day playing computer games
sitting in front of the computer. Inevitably, he gained much weight and began
to develop health problems as a result of his inactive lifestyle. However, he
decided to join a tennis club on campus and began practicing three times a
week. Before long, he’s health was very improved and lost most of the weight he
had gained. If the university had not constructed the tennis facilities, my
cousin would not have started practicing tennis.
On top of
that, sports activities encourage students to interact with other people. This is
because most group sports, such as soccer, basketball, and football, require much
effort and cooperation. When students participate in university sports club,
they have to practice together regularly, and they get to make a close bond
together. Taking my personal story as an example, when I joined in my
university soccer club as a freshman, I had a new group of friends. This was very
beneficial for me because I attended the university that isn’t in my hometown
so I didn’t have any friends. However, after I joined the sports club, I had my
own family away from my home. We got together on the weekends for training and
worked together to achieve same goals.
In conclusion,
athletics make people healthier and opportunities for social interactions among
students. In this regard, I strongly claim that university should provide as
much funding for students’ sports activities as they do one library.
