If parents wish to see their children succeed in life, they should set strict rules for them.
Some people argue that parents must have strict rules for their children. However, in my opinion, this perspective is not true for two following reasons which I am going to elaborate. One reason is that strict rules can cause a lot of stress for children. Another reason is that this these rules can break relationship between parents and their children.
To begin with, as far as stress is concerned, it is obvious that strict rules have bad influence to children. To explain, sStress is really harmful in many ways. It can cause emotional problems, health problems and poor performances. Thus, by receiving strict rules from their parents, children cannot get a good grade and could not be successful students in their school. A survey was conducted by UCLA's research department to determine whether rigid rules could affect children's academic performances. There are two groups monitored. The first group was formed of one hundred children who do not have rigid parents . They were asked to take tests to measure their level of grades in a school. The other group was composed of people who one hundred children who always received give strict rules from their parents and were given same direction. The researchers compared the outcomes and recorded that the former group was able to achieve higher grades than the latter. The reason was that strict rules disturb children in their study and critical thinking. This study demonstrates that rigid regulations can have negative effects.
On top of that, if parents set forceful rules for their children, relationship with their children can become bad. To be specific, even if strict rules seems instructive and positive for children, it can cause many troubles with their relationship with parents. There are many different things parents can do for their children such as passing on knowledge, giving advice and sharing personal stories. For example, when I was in middle school, I had a passive personality due to my parents. I had a hard time adapting to my home atmosphere since my parents always gave a lot of rules for me. Going to home was merely a daily routine. However, after talking a lot of things with my parents such as my earnest and candid mind, my parents had been changed. So I could have good relationships with my parents and be an active person. As a result, I got back on track. Come to think of it, it became a turning point in my life.
On the whole, I think I have accurately demonstrated my point of view on this matter. To sum up, strict rules can cause a significant amount of stress for children and it can spoil relationship between parents and their children. In this regard, I believe forceful rules cannot be good for children.
