It has been widely debated whether most
advertisements make products seem much better than they really are. I defend
the view that many of advertisements make their products look much better than
they really are.
First, companies mislead us using their
advertisements with exaggeration. Companies that use advertisement include only
information favorable to them and perhaps it would be only their opinion not
for everyone. In the television, I can see an advertisement of a certain cereal
saying that "the balanced nutrients are in it and enjoy balanced
breakfast". But I think that the mention is not the considerable opinion
but only the company's opinion. In many cases, the advertisements mislead us
subtly and normally, we cannot distinguish it. The cereal with so called
“balanced nutrients” initially stimulates our purchasing desire but actually,
they would not be great as they were advertised. I would feel regretful in many
times, if I really trusted their advertisements.
Additionally, the celebrities in the
advertisements can make products seem better. Companies use many of celebrities
in many of their advertisements because the products would look great if celebrities
appeared in advertisement. Let me give an example about certain type of cloth.
If celebrities appeared in advertisements with that cloth, they would look
great because they have a good figure. But actually, every time I brought and
wore it, I was dejected. This case seems to be obvious but there are
surprisingly many people who were deceived by these advertisements including
me.
Ultimately, many of advertisements make
their products look much better for evidence I have provided previously. This
is because companies mislead us using their advertisements and the celebrities
in the advertisements can make products seem better. |
