▶ Your Answer :
Various opinions may exist over the argument whether when teachers
assign projects on which students must work together, the students learn much
more effectively than when they are asked to work alone on projects. As far as
I am concerned, I am in complete disagreement with the argument. The two ideas
stated below can be valid evidence to support my view.
First of all, working assigned projects without their classmates can
enable students to build their insights or outlooks. This is because if the
students study or work alone, they can think more thoroughly about the problems
through the Internet. However, when studying together, they should communicate
their ideas and opinions, which take students' time to think on the topic away.
My personal experience can be used to prove this point. When I was a fourth
year student at a college, I had to finish final projects regarding physics for
graduation. At first, I and my friends started to work together. However, even
though we made good result from every experiment, I realized that I did not
have to any chance to improve my perspective because I did not have time or
opportunity to think about its results.
On top of that, students can spend more time for the assignment when working
together. In working together, every meeting requires more time for sharing
about the information of the concept because they cannot one step forward
without knowing equally. This definitely makes students take more time and been
left inefficiently. A research conducted by a renowned professor named John
Hamilton from Stanford University indicates that the students who always work
their homework by themselves attain the excellent grade in a much more
effectual way, whereas the same accomplishments are stunted for students who
only rely on working with classmates.
To sum up, I believe that my explanation can sufficiently validate the advantages
of working alone. Obviously, the significance of improving their perspectives
and finishing the projects efficiently cannot be overemphasized enough. Hence,
in order for students to acquire these benefits, working without any
cooperation from friends undoubtedly is a better decision.
