Some people think that
mobile phones have given humans more freedom. However, in my opinion, the mobile phone has actually entrapped our lives in
many ways. This is because nowadays, people are becoming more and more obsessed
with mobile phones.
To begin with, we are
seeing an increasing number of people who are
suffering from smartphone addiction. Many people have shown symptoms of anxiety
without their mobile phones. According
to a study carried out in 2009 at the Korea University, almost 50% of people in
their 20’s and 30’s showed a serious level of
anxiety whenever they were without a mobile phone. In the study, a total of 1,000 young adults were instructed to be in a room
without mobile phones and wifi Wi-Fi. After an hour, more than 50% of people answered
that they felt nervous and anxious. Moreover, 10% of people responded that they
even trembled and broke into a cold sweat due to severe anxiety.
On top of that, mobile
phones has made works to have disrupted our
daily lives. Nowadays, most of office workers are always stay connected
with co-workers even after their works. Bosses and colleagues can give
their junior workers tasks easily through mobile messengers or E-mail whenever
they want. For example, when I worked at my previous company, my boss made a
group chatting room to make us freely discuss our tasks and projects. He sent
us messages regarding our tasks whenever he wanted, which was really stressful
to other team members. When one of our team members didn’t answer his massage
message (치명적인 오류네요…:D), my boss was quite upset and blamed him about not being professional.
To sum up, the mobile phone have actually
made our lives inconvenient rather than given giving
us freedom.
