Both the reading
and lecture discuss about (the) harmful
effects of invasive species on ecosystems. The reading supports that there are
various harmful effects on the advent of nonnative species, while the lecturer
doubts its contention by saying that not all invasive species are detrimental
to ecosystems.
The author of the reading passage first affirms that invasive species
can ruin the local systems. He says that they will eat native species. In
addition, he contends that they will also consume (the)
local food sources, resulting in (causing)
the extinction of native species which (have) lost
their foods. The listening(,) however(,)
disagrees and claims that not all species will act as predators. He supports
this idea by referring (to) wheat, which doesn’t
harm any local species(,) and cow, which doesn’t
kill any native species.
The passage also
says that nonnative species can give financial losses to land owners and
farmers. He cites (gives) the
example of mesquite trees. He claims
that they can
absorb water from land and kill its grasses and make farmers pay
extra money for feeding animals. Also, it says they must also spend money for (on) eradicating the regenerating mesquite trees from (on) their lands. However, the lecturer says that some
species will be beneficial regarding financial and environmental concerns. He
says cane toad, for instance, devours harmful pests and prevent them from
harming plants. He also says that farmer
doesn’t have to use pesticides, which are very harmful to people and
surrounding environments.
(This is a well written essay, and each sentence contributing to the
thesis made it comfortable to read. Good job!) |
