I would disagree that the students can study more effectively if they do project in a group. In order to study effectively, the student must find a quiet place, which the student can fully concentrate on studying and free from all sorts of distractions. If the student has his own time schedule and do the work regularly, then he would make an effective study habits.
To begin with, doing project in a group with other students can be very disruptive. The student will waste more time organizing the group, meeting; making plans; and waiting for the other member to do their part. For example, I once have had to do a project in a group for my debate class. Each of us had to research different parts about the topic. However, one of my group members did not help at all. He not only unfinished his part on time, but he also couldn’t make it to our group meeting. Therefore, we totally massed up our project and couldn’t focus on study at all.
Secondly, the students will learn to do anything by themselves. Many people tend to spend time studying but they are often unable to do anything without someone’s help. When they study alone, they will have to figure out and discover by themselves, and this will eventually teach them to do something without someone’s help.
In addition, the students will learn Self-Directed Learning. They will set their own goal and make their own plans to reach the goal. Self-Directed Learning will help them to find their own ways to study more effectively.
In conclusion, the students can study more effectively when they study by themselves. There will be no distractions so they can concentrate on the work more easily. Also, studying alone makes students to solve a problem without anyone’s help and also can direct themselves and improve their study style. |
