People today are exposed to various sources to
keep them updated with the current issues. With the rapid development of
technology, it became easier and faster to exchange informations information. Although it can be true that more
sources can help people to be more informative, I believe more resources can
be not only unnessary unnecessary but
also be dangerous to people for the following two reasons: Information on
some sources are not accurate and a single source can give people enough
information.
First, not all information can be trusted. Given
the fact the information on the web or book is written by a lot of people, it
is hard to know if it is a valid and accurate source. For example, the famous
website called Wiki-pedia covers uncountable
topics and news which can be very helpful to many people. However, anyone on
the website can write or edit the page. There is no way to find out the
writer's background information; which means that the information on the page
can either be made up or be untrue.
Second, using too many sources can be time
consuming when it comes to researching and filtering the necessary
information. When researching, it takes less time to find one or two valid
sources and stick with it. For instance, when I look for the current political
issue, I simply find it on the newspaper. Often times, I end up with the same
information on any other resources. It is a waste of time and energy just to
find the information you already have.
As a conclusion, using one or two trusted
sources depending on the topic is enough to stay informative. With them,
people can save time and still have the right information they need. Like an
old saying, "time is a gold". In this regard, spending extra
time on getting information from various sources only cause people a
headache.
