Some people say that having ambitious dreams is better than having realistic goals. I don’t agree that having ambitious goals is better than having realistic dreams. First, it is not efficiency for students to have an ambitious aim for their future. Second, students can be disappointed in themselves if they couldn’t achieve their goals.
More than anything else, big dream can make student exhausted because they are so busy. It may be helpful for students to set a big goal in their life. However, let me show an example explains why students can be tired with their big goals. It is not uncommon for teachers at my middle school to take time from their personal schedule to spend with the students. Some teachers were in charge of sports activities. Boys and girls developed sociability by participation in these team activities. They were also able to relax and reduce their stress which aided them with their studies. Frequently teachers would take us to art museums and plays to enhance our cultural appreciation. These experiences allowed students to develop well-rounded personalities. Due to the aid of their teachers, students found they had more appreciation for school life. Like above, these days’ students have so many activities which is not main subject such as art, music, and so on. If students set ambitious goal, they were easily exhausted because of their busy life. This proves why students have to set their goal which is not that much huge.
Furthermore, failure to achieve goals can make students disappointed. Students may get some benefit from their ambitious goals. However, my personal example demonstrates how failure can be influenced with students’ life. When I was in high school, one of my friends set high average score for his next exam. He studied very hard and whenever he got a question, he visited his teacher to solve the problem. Also he took online courses to get more useful information in his weak subject. Even he made a studying group with other smart friends to improve his ability of solving problems. Finally he took his test after studying hard. Contrary with his expectations, however, his score was much lower than his aim so he was disappointed in himself. As a result of exam, he gave up studying and changed his dream. This proves that failure in ambitious dreams can affects negative influence to students.
In conclusion, I disagree that having ambitious dreams is better than having realistic goals. First, it is not efficiency for students to have an ambitious aim for their future. Second, students can be disappointed in themselves if they couldn’t achieve their goals.
