The lecturer and the reading passage both discuss about the
theories of ancient Egypt. In the lecture, however the professor cast doubts on
several distinct flaws in the theorie,s which is descirbed in the reading.
First, the lecturer argues that, provincial government was
unlikely to cause uprising uprising against superiors which, instead he will be
rewarded if his behaviors and attitudes are loyal. Also, She points out that
central government was likely to possess strong armt that might have stopped
the rebellion of the provincial government. This goes against the claim in the
reading passage that a rebellion by provincial governors cause the fall.
Furthermore, in contrast to the claim in the reading
passage, which there were historic document explained about the rainfall and
catastrophe. speaker insists that documents might be misinterpreted which
actually, droughts were localized and no specific impact on dynasty. Also, She
mentioned that famine and drought were not actually sure.
Finally, according to the reading passage, monarchy had
power struggle which consist of intense compeitition and turmoil. However the
lecturer maintains that, there was no power struggle after the long reign of
Pepi. In particular, other reigns also happened similar like Pepi and since
Pepi had well organized dynasty ,so they were easy to solve out the problems
and specially these problems were common as other ancient dynasties.
