It has been argued that today parents are more involved in their children’s education than in the past. I believe that parents are having a lot of effects on children’s education. First, parents let their children study harder by sending them to many private courses. Second, parents offer their kids a better environment to study.
First of all, parents have their children participate in many after-school courses. Some people may say that parents also expressed interest in their kids’ education in the past. However, today parents are more concerned with their children’s study by having them go to plenty of after-school courses. For example, in Korea, unless students develop themselves to performing better academically, they find it so hard to compete with others. Naturally, Korean parents are very concerned about their kids lagging behind and thus force their children to participate in many different after-school courses. After-school art and reading courses are packed with school boys and girls as well as foreign language classes. In addition, students always keep a busy schedule studying some school subjects an early earlier, such as math and English language. On the other hand, parents only just told their children to study harder, not to send them to private courses. This example shows that parents show more interest in their children’s study than in the past.
Second, today parents move to another region than is good for their children to study. Moving to other areas may not have any benefits for students’ education. However, surroundings play a pivotal role in children’s education, and therefore today parents try to move to other places that are good to study. Let me take a friend in my elementary school for instance. I spent most of time with him when we hanged out and even studied for tests. At that time, he was not enthusiastic enough for academic activities. After two years, in order to make him study harder, his parents decided to move to another remote area. He was complained about a lack of friends at first, but he was able to adapt himself to the new school life and study harder. I often heard that he was at the top of the class every semester. Moreover, he eventually got an admission from the top university that he always had dreamed of. This example proves that parents give a big hand in their children’s education.
In conclusion, I agree that parents are having a lot of effects on children’s education for the reasons that I have mentioned above. First, parents have their children participate in many after-school courses. Second, parents move to another region than is good for their children to study.
