It is evident that in our current society, happiness has tremendous importance in our lives. Some people do not agree with the statement, while others do not. I however, strongly agree with the statement. There are several reasons that I could discuss to support my argument, so I will limit my discussion to the two that I feel are the most relevant to the topic: the concept of stress and relationship with others.
First of all, getting stressed out is concerned, people, especially, students in the past were happier and satisfied with their lives than students did in present. Today, a number of students get stressed out due to the heavy burden of having to study hard and harsh competition among peers. From young kids to university students, they always compete with others to survive in this dog-eat-dog world. In Korea, not only young kids, but also high school students study various subjects including mathematics, science, music, English, and even physical activities every day for their school exams. Moreover, some students take a sleep insufficiently or have no enough time to eat their every meal. This atmosphere pressure the students and some of them choose the suicide eventually, because of their bad grades. This is stark contrast to the students did in the past. I mother said that, about 30 years ago, students did not have to study for all day, and most of them play with their friends in the play ground or friends’ house. No one gave up his or her life due to the bad grade. This shows that the students, in the past were more satisfied with their lives and happier.
