Some people think that always telling the truth is the key
point in a relationship. However, I am firmly of the opinion that being honest
is not the most important factor and that’s the reason why “white lies” exists
in the world, which “white” reminds us clean and good. To begin with, telling the truth is possible to hurt
someone’s feeling. However, there are some critics saying, sometimes you have
to be cruel to be kind. I strongly believe this is wrong because it can hurt
the people who listen. For instance, if a project has been failed due to
someone, you should not tell him or her straightaway that it was their fault.
Therefore, white lies can be applied here and tell them in a better way so that
they cannot do again without hurting their feelings. It is interesting perhaps to conduct a thought experiment at
this juncture: what would the world be like if everyone told the truth all the
time? Whilst I understand that being honest is vital, the consequence of this
will be harsh. For example, at work if your boss told you to stay until
midnight to do extra work, you cannot reply that you do not want to because as
soon as you say this you will get kicked out of the company. In this
relationship, boss and employer, there is a need for a white lie and to obey
the boss. If you don’t, the entire organisation would corrupt and nations will
be disorganised, as a result, there would be no peace around the world because
everyone will hate and assault each other. To sum up, people will be pleased where everyone telling not
the truth, compare to the place where everyone is always honest. Although, too
much white lie between the relationships, can occur problem as well. In this
regard, I disagree with the statement that always telling the truth is the most
important consideration in any relationship. |
