There has been fierce debate regarding the issue that taking care of animals is the best way to teach responsibility to children or not. Some people say that there is no relation between rearing animals and children's responsibility because there are a lot of children who rear animals but do not have responsibility. However, I believe that by breeding animals children can certainly learn responsibility because of following reasons.
To begin with, with doing something regularly children can learn responsibility. When children take care of animals, they have to give them food in accurate time and they should exercise with them especially dog. If they skip feed or exercise, their animal will get illness. This would shock to children. In this course, they get responsibility. For example, when I was young, I reared small dog. His name was Biggle. Sometimes, I was so tired and sleepy so I ignored my dog's food time. And I skip exercising my dog. He got to sick and finally he dead. This surprising event came to me as shock and every night I was so depressed. During that time, I learned responsibility and did every thing regularly.
On top of that, children also learn responsibility when they think something at parents' aspect. They have tendency to rely on parents. They already know that if they do not anything by their self, their parents do their tasks instead of them. On the other hand, when children take care of animals, animals are also inclined to rely on children. Children get to realize that they should always solve animals' problem like parents. Eventually they learn responsibility. In Korea University's study, children who rear animals understand parents' mind more then children who do not rear animals. Also, they have more responsibility by cleaning animal, feeding them, and exercising with them.
In conclusion, I believe that the best way to teach responsibility to children is supporting animals Because children learn responsibility when they do what they have to do for animals like feeding them, cleaning them and exercising with them. Also by rearing animals they come to know parents' mind and this mind is always connected to responsibility. |
