There might be some people who believe that being patient is a good way to live in a competitive and complex society. However, I personally disagree with the above idea for two subsequent reasons. First, people should actively find out their exact locations in such a society. Second, when conflicts occur, people should protect themselves instead of being patient.
To begin with, understanding the position and status of themselves is of significance in a complex and competitive society. Generally speaking, today’s society is so complicated that it is crucial for people to know what they have to do precisely. To do this, people should recognize all the situations actively. Without this awareness, people would get in lost and be confused. Let me bring up my personal story as an example. A few years ago, I did an internship at a cosmetic company. The company was so busy that no one could care about me. Accordingly, it was difficult for me to find out what to do, so I started asking others about tasks that I could deal with. Then, I closely observed the whole mechanism of the company. With this collaboration, I finally discovered my place to work. This clearly shows that being patient, just waiting for, is not a good way to live in contemporary society.
On top of that, there is no one to help in problematic conflicts except for themselves. In general, every people these days is very busy because of their hectic schedule and workload. Therefore, they do not have any reason to help others when conflicts happen. In this situation, people should do whatever they can do to shield themselves not being patient, which means just “someone helps me,” a useless claim. For example, when doing an internship, I involved in a little fight with another intern because of one mistake made by her. I argued strongly this was not my fault, but nobody helped or defended me. Accordingly, I showed evidence that proved I was innocent about this adverse situation. After checking this, the intern admitted her mistake. Without such aggressive action, I would have been a trouble maker.
In conclusion, people should know where they are specifically in a complex and competitive society. Furthermore, it is important for people to protect themselves in any situation. In this regard, I firmly think that being patient is almost useless in contemporary society. |
