▶ Your Answer :
Nowadays, there are a lot of sources to get information. Actually the information is overproducing. In that respect, what necessary ability to people is they have to know that information is reliable or not. One of the sources is the media, and it is not trustful to get information, because the writers also get influenced by society and their thoughts, also the media reports wrong information.
To begin with, the media is not reliable source to the public, since the media reflects the editors or writers’ thoughts. Their contents depend on the writers. Even though people try to be fair, it is hard to be. Since they are humans and they can think, the contents are leaned on their opinions. Also what if they are not honorable, what if they receive bribes from celebrities or politics. For example, the company ‘Times’ and ‘CTV’, although they deal with same issue their ideas are different. The influenza broke out in Haiti because of the earthquake. The ‘Times’ reported negatively about that Canada did not support them financially. In contrast, the ‘CTV’ reported very honorably about Canada’s care to Haiti, even though they did not support them financially. Another example is, in Korea one famous celebrity made the car accident, but it could not be reported. That celebrity gave bribe to that newspaper company not to report it. Thus, the media does not report all incidents honestly.
In addition, the media is trustworthy, because they do not deliver the correct information. The media has to be the standard to the public to lead them to make right decision. However, it does not have right firm standard to lead the public. For instance, when the all hens had the influenza, the media inflamed facts about that facts a lot, so the public got scared. They reported like, if people eat the hens, then people are susceptible to get influenza as well. People avoid eating all chickens, so it makes all chicken companies, and restaurants to become bankrupted. However, the real fact was that if they are cooked over 100 degrees, then all bacteria can be killed. It does not harmful to the people. The media’s misleading information formed this kind of atmosphere. Thus, the media is not always good source to get unbiased information.
To conclude, getting all information through media is not good way, because it does not offer unbiased information. The contents about one issue vary from company to company and writers to writers. Also, it is hard to say it carries perfect information, because it reports incorrect information and inflames them. Therefore, people need to consider other ways of resources as well to confirm information, and they must not rely on media only. |
