How much pay does it take to be satisfied our salary?
I want to define what is high-pay and low-pay.
Let’s define a high-paying job as a lot salary than we need to live, comfortably.
And let’s define a lower-paying job as just enough to lead our life.
According to the statistical materials, an average first year salary is about 25million won in Korea.
So we can assume a high-paying job salary is above 30 million won and a lower-paying job salary is about 25million won for meeting our definition.
Here, I prefer a lower-paying job with shorter working hours because of free time for me, free time for my family and lastly, money is just a tool for life.
First of all, although a high-paying job has merits such as having enough money for raising children, buying a luxury car and a house like a palace, this job creates many problems.
For example, according to Korea Civil Research Company, twenty thousand couples divorced their wife or husband in Korea, 2009 and 7.5 percent of them blamed their divorce on disharmony with family. This is probably because they lack time with their family.
In other words, a high salary is not important. What is important is the amount of time can you spend with your family.
Second, working less hours can make extra time for me enjoy my interests.
During my previous company life, I was paid 40million won a year. Of course, it was higher than the average. I, however, didn’t spend time for me and I also didn’t spend time with my family. Comparing with my current job, it was a terrible thing for me.
Now, I am working 8 hours a day. Of course, I am paid a lower salary than in the past.
But, I can have free time for me to study English, to meet friends, and to do my hobby.
Naturally, I have more time for my family than in the past.
Third, money is just a tool for life.
As I previously stated, money has made horrible problems.
There may be many events concerned with money such as riots, homicides and suicides in many countries. It is more important that we live with family, friend and aquiantance.
To sum up, money is not more important than our family and friend.
Spending more time with family could light up our society.
So I would choose a lower-paying job with shorter hour that would give me more time to do something for me and with my family and friends. |
