Experimentally, some school starts asking to
evaluate their teachers. The result of the experiment isn't revealed yet.
However, I strongly disagree that student assess their teacher regardless of
the outcome. There are two major reasons; student is emotional and the respect
is one of the best values to teachers.
In the first place, students are juvenile. They
follow not their ration but emotion. So their evaluations about teachers are
not acceptable. For example, there is a possibility that if student get a low
score, s/he give a bad assessment to the teacher. This result has side-effects.
If the assessment is considered as a material for promotion by school, the teacher
might concentrate on not being a good teacher but being a funny teacher.
In the second place, the respect is the most
important factor to teachers. If students don't respect their teachers, they
might not follow teachers' order. There is a good proverb to support my ideas.
"Don't even think about touch the shadow of your teacher." It means
the teacher is very respectful people, so student has to respect teacher's everything
even shadow. In my case, I have many chances to listen to young generation's
attitude in the school because my sister is an elementary school teacher. Certainly,
they think teaching is a kind of job so they didn't respect teachers. The worst
thing is that parents also ignore the statue of teachers. As a result, teachers
are in trouble to control students.
In conclusion, as I have stated the above,
schools shouldn't ask student to evaluate their teachers because they are too
young to assess their teachers and if they give scores to their teachers, they
might lose respect to their teacher.
