People can either spend most of their time alone or being with friends. Some people say that it is better to be with close friends when they have free time. However, I believe that being alone is more beneficial because it helps people develop themselves and learn to be independent.
First, spending time alone helps people develop their potential abilities and skills. In this fast-paced society, people do not have time to hang out with many people because our society is demanding a lot from us. It means that when we have free time, we need to learn useful skills or knowledge that will help us to meet highly demanding requirements. Otherwise, we will fall behind others in this highly competitive world. To be specific, one of my best friends who always got the scholarship in the university tried to learn and experience new things by himself when he had time. He did not just hang out with people when he had free time. As a result, he got in to a great company that everybody was looking up to.
Second, being alone gives people chances to be independent. Although there are good aspects of spending time together with friend, the advantage of being alone far outweighs it. People can learn to be independent when they are being alone because people need to do something just by themselves. For example, according to the research conducted by KBS, Korean national Broadcasting System, children who are more likely to learn independent attitude quickly when they do activity alone. This indicates that spending time alone is vital for one’s independent mind.
In conclusion, being alone is more advantageous than spending time with friends because people can improve themselves and be more independent. |
