People have various opinions on whether universities and high school should teach students about specific careers and fields instead of general subjects. Although opponents may exist, I believe that universities and high schools should teach not only the specific careers but also the general subjects. It is mostly because, general subjects must be taught in high school before university educations since most of jobs require specific knowledge. Moreover, basic facts from general subjects is helpful to handle the emergency during careers.
First, high school students must be well informed the basic facts before studying specific fields in universities. Moreover, university students must regain the knowledge from the subjects the learned in high school for their future career. Some may argue that people should not waste their time to learn facts out of their specialization unless having double major or multiple occupations. However, most of careers require the employees have stored the basic facts beside the requirements for their jobs. For example, when someone entered in the field of saving lives such as doctors, nurses, or pharmacists, they practically need technologies for their own fields. However, a number of these professionals are able to speak other languages fluently, and have well informed skills of manupilating computers. Moreover, athletes of any fields are able to perform the First Aid treatment in emergency as well as mastered at their sports. The reason for this is identified that many fields are expanding abroad, and the top positioned person of each profession have a desire to have versatile employees so they can
Since the process of becoming elite professional is getting more difficult and complicated many young people in college or high schools should try hard before entering profession. This is why univesities and high schools should teach students general subjects.
Moreover, learning geneal knowledge will contribute to dealing with emergencies during professions. In other words, various unexpected events may occur while working but the wisdoms and experience from the general subjects will be helpful to deal with them. For example, when the earthquake occur, most people in the buildings are afraid and feel confused what to do. However, if they remember the a basic and vitally crucial fact that people must stay undereneath objects such as tables, desks, or chairs to avoid the another dangerous attack, falling light obects on some's head. Although many materials became broken or malfunctioned after the earthquake, the precious lives of people can be prolonged through the vital fact that learned in science class. Likewise, knowledge from general facts is practical for people to deal with life threatening moments. In this regard, remembering the important facts from the general subjects that learned repeatedly before careers is helpful.
To conclude, high schools and universities should teach students general subjects rather than specific fields because of the trend of careers that require multiskilled workers, and usefulness of these knowledges for unexpected situations in the future |
