▶ Your Answer :
The writer and the lecturer talk mainly about the efficiency of hydrogen as the alternative energy resource in the future. The former has an opinion that the hydrogen is the appropriate resource. In contrast, the latter insists that hydrogen energy is not good as the resource as much as people think.
First of all, the lecturer points out that the method of getting hydrogen is not eco-friendly and is not actually cheap. Hydrogen can be obtained by the electricity, but it is not eco-friendly in terms of environment. It would be huge obstacle to produce energy. Also, getting water is also very expensive; it is even more expensive than the gasoline. It is contradictory to the writer which says the hydrogen energy will be way cheaper than the fossil fuel.
In addition, lecturer believes that the hydrogen energy cannot be available every time. Water is the main to get the hydrogen, but the problem is what if the water is not available. If there is no water because there was no rain, then hydrogen cannot be obtained. People cannot the control the weather. Also, the water should be split into hydrogen and oxygen by sunlight. What if there is no sunlight because the weather was cloudy? It is very opposite opinion with the writer which says the hydrogen can be gained easily by renewable source of energy like wind and the sunlight.
Lastly, the lecturer maintains that the hydrogen is hard to be transported. Hydrogen has the characteristic of flammable. It is very easily ignited, so it can be evaluated very dangerous and volatile. In order to carry the alloy, it has to have enough weight with the metal to handle the hydrogen, but it is not reasonable. For example, the car which can be operated with the hydrogen energy, it has to have at least 300kg of fuel to run. It criticized the writer’s point which is the hydrogen can be carried very easily especially when it combined with the metal.
In conclusion, the lecturer and the writer have different perspective for the usage of the hydrogen energy as the alternative energy for the future. The lecturer stands with writers’ reason, in order to say that hydrogen energy is not plausible because, it is not actually cheap, hard to be produced because of unexpected weather, and it is hard to be transport. |
